What Are Piles?

Piles, also known as hemorrhoids, are swollen blood vessels in the rectum or anus that cause discomfort, itching, bleeding, and pain. They are common among adults and can be caused by chronic constipation, prolonged sitting, pregnancy, or a low-fiber diet.

Types of Piles

Internal Piles – Develop inside the rectum and may cause painless bleeding.
External Piles – Found outside the anus, causing pain, swelling, and irritation.
Thrombosed Piles – Blood clots in external piles leading to severe pain.
Prolapsed Piles – Internal piles that protrude outside the anus.
